Teggiano Village & Mount Cervati Trek
2 Days / 1 Night
Stop at the hill-top village of Teggiano, located south of Salerno, to visit the Borgo and medieval Castle. Enjoy the panoramic views of the countryside where we will have a picnic. Afterwards, a short drive to park the car and hike for an hour to reach the Refuge Cervati (1,597 meters) where we will spend the night.
After breakfast, we start the hike to reach the Monastery situated at the top of Mount Cervati (1,899 meters). This is the highest peak in the Campania region of Southern Italy and is located in the National Park of Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni. Amazing landscapes can be seen from the viewpoints and great opportunities to spot wildlife as well as different native plants and flowers. With your guide, you will learn about the history and nature of these places, like the “Nevera”, a place where there’s always snow, even in the Summer.
We return to the Refuge to enjoy a well-deserved lunch before returning to our car for the drive home.
This tour runs everyday from March to November except on Mondays.
Please note that the Refuge uses solar panels to produce electricity. Make sure all your devices are fully charged before the hike or have additional batteries. The Refuge has comfortable bunk-beds, 2 toilets, 2 showers, a wood-stove on the second floor, and a huge fireplace in the sitting/dining area.
