Teggiano Village & Mount Cervati Trek
2 Days / 1 Night
Check out this new itinerary we have: Stop at the hill-top village of Teggiano, located south of Salerno, visit the Borgo and the medieval Castle, and enjoy the panoramic views of the countryside; after a picnic we have a short drive to park the car and in an hour we’ll reach the Refuge Cervati (1597 metres), where we’ll spent the night.
The next morning, after breakfast, we’ll start the hike to reach the Monastery, situated at the top of Mount Cervati, at 1,899 metres: it’s the highest peak in the Campania region, and is located in the National Park of Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni. Amazing landscape can be seen from the viewpoints and great chances to spot wildlife and different plants and flowers; you’ll learn about the history and nature of these places, like the so called “Nevera”, a carsic room, where there’s always snow (neve, in Italian).
We’ll be back at the Refuge to enjoy a well deserved lunch, before going back to our cars and drive home.
This tour is running from March to November and is NOT running on Mondays.
Please note that at the Refuge they use solar panels to produce the electricity needed: make sure all your devices are fully charged and you have secondary batteries for it; there are very comfortable bunk-beds, 2 toilets and 2 showers, a wood-stove on the second floor and a huge fire-place in the sitting-dining room.
