We had 13 family members join GoinItaly for 9 perfect days. We agree with all the others who gave a 5 star rating, Gaetano is a most personable and knowledgeable tour guide.
We received very special and individualized treatment for the duration of our time. For instance, 4 of our family members could only participate in part of the tour; this was not a problem.
All parts of our itinerary were taken care of: trips to and from the airports, special adjustments to our daily schedules, fitting in extra places we wanted to see like the WW2 museum in Salerno, etc.
This trip was to honor Dennis – husband, father, and grandpa – as he celebrated his 70th birthday. It was a perfect family trip and the pleasant memories will forever be with us.

Discovery Amalfi Coast Small Group Tour
A great day in Naples. We had been to Italy on previous occasions but never managed to visit Naples. The walking tour was the best way to explore the many streets and markets. With local knowledge of the city, Gaetano was the best tour guide and we did manage to visit some interesting locations.

Puglia is such a beautiful region of Italy and every day of this tour brought us a new experience. From the ancient villages Matera and Alberobello to the numerous wineries, cheesing making and olive oil production, it was just perfect! Many highlights, especially the Crypt of Original Sin and the Castellana Caves, not to mention the fabulous food, restaurants and the local people were so friendly.
You could not find a better tour guide than Gaetano Barone, nothing was a problem for him and being a local, his knowledge of the area enabled us to appreciate the history of the region. As tourists who have been to Italy numerous times, we certainly can recommend this tour to anyone looking for a different experience of Italy.

The best tour director and guide ever. Gaetano created a terrific personalised itinerary for my time in Puglia and Campania that showed professionalism, knowledge and flexibility. Seeing the area through Gaetano’s eyes was a privilege. He created a picture that resonated and will be remembered with a skill to not overwhelm with facts and figures….he knew exactly when to let the landscape and history tell their own stories. Amalfi, March 2022: Path of the Gods.
I was with 2 other retired friends and had the most amazing hike with Gaetano, although he rated it as a ‘stroll’!! not true for me, but still very doable with Gaetano as guide and his friend, Luigi from ‘Trekking Amalfi Coast’ was also with us as it was through Luigi that we had booked.
We had a real 5 star experience (moderate difficulty for me), and the lunch in Antonio’s (the shepherd) hut was very interesting, tasty and good ‘craic’ (fun). Thanks to you both for your expertise and generosity that made our day memorable and possible.
Would I do it again? YES!!

What a stroke of luck to have found Gaetano. He bent over backwards to give us as full an experience as possible. He went above and beyond. This is not something you will find very often, for someone to have passion and love for what he does and to have it translate into the best possible experience for his customers. Gaetano does this with a smile, a great effervescent attitude and an infectious laugh to boot. We experienced dreamy vistas, local cheese-making from a real italian shepherd. We visited an Amalfi Lemon farmer whose gracious welcome warmed our hearts. You know when they say “salt of the earth” kind of people? This is who they are talking about. We were not treated like hiking trip number “841”, we were treated like human beings with attention to our needs and respect for our requests. This should be a bucket list experience for everyone! Now the hikes can be challenging and the Amalfi coast boasts winding roads that can rumble even an iron stomach. So speak to Gaetano of your limits and bring Dramamine! He will adjust the hikes to your endurance level and you will be left with memories for a lifetime.

Amalfi Coast Hikes
We scheduled a cooking course with Gaetano during July 2018 in Cava De’ Terrini. They took care of everything including picking us up at our hotel and returning us.
We had a group of 8 people including 3 young children. It was an incredible hands on experience for all of us. We have already used the homemade recipes they taught us to cook for our friends back in the States.
I can’t say enough about the experience and the family that hosted us in their home. It was above and beyond what we expected.
I would definitely recommend the cooking course as they even allow you to tailor the menu, which was great.
We are looking forward to our next trip to Cava.

The day spent in Naples was a highlight of my trip to Italy. I had read many books set in Naples and always wanted to visit.
I was so grateful to visit the city with Gaetano who knew the area so well. So many different facets were covered in the day and I felt I received a real view of life in Naples throughout the centuries. Gaetano’s historical knowledge was a highlight. Thank you for a wonderful day.

Gaetano was a superb guide and host on our tour in June 2018. He picked us up from our village on the Amalfi coast and drove us to Pompeii. He had organised a professional guide for the tour inside the ruins and met us afterwards to take us to a local winery for lunch. He then drove us back to our accommodation along a scenic route. Throughout the tour Gaetano was professional, knowledgeable, entertaining and informative. He went out of his way to make sure we had a memorable time. The tour was excellent value for money. We can’t recommend him highly enough. We had a truly wonderful day thanks to Gaetano.

Our guided tour with GoinItaly facilitated an amazing experience. We were picked up from our accommodation in Vietri sul Mare and driven to the start of the hike in Agerola. After being guided along the walk, we were driven back along the breathtakingly scenic Amalfi Coast road. Throughout the walk and car rides, our hiking guide shared the local myths and history surrounding the area with us and answered all of our many questions. He ensured that we took in the best sites and had plenty of time for photos. He is clearly very experienced and passionate about trekking and his home country of Italy. We could not have asked for a more knowledgeable and friendly tour guide for this walk. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and worth every penny.

I have lived and vacationed in Italy often twice a year for more than ten years (2010-22). Gaetano has been tireless in satisfying all my needs and desires for both tours and accommodations, especially when they have changed in mid-search, like adding relatives or modifying criteria. I am now an 86-year-old, difficult-to-please, aspiring curmudgeon who is extremely happy and fortunate to have worked with him, and will continue to do so. And he truly enjoys what he does!
